I have written a number of articles relating to Branding. Branding is an identity and is how we want to show up and present our business or ourselves to others. It’s a statement of ones intent and can even portray a vision. For this reason it is important to know who you are marketing to. Is it to the masses or to a niche?
Customers become loyal to brands and we see this with Apple, Harley Davidson and many other well known companies. Loyal customers like to show the brand and this does generate interest and a discussion with others also behind the brands.

So having a brand with loyal customers will help sell your brand further and is more likely to have them purchase from you time and time again. My brand is much about Ideas Working From Home.

If marketing online then you need to stand out as the internet is now full of just about every product, service and leaders. The social media networks like Facebook and Twitter have a huge following and some of this is about people looking for specific information about you! Because of this, it really is important to have a brand that is congruent.

Having what is called back end sales is where the money is made. You could be advertising a certain product and this could be for free, but you also need to be offering other products and services that will attract the need of your customers. For instance, you could be advertising free information on how to best look after your dog. This information takes the form of 6 page PDF brochure. Those people who connect with this will want to read this compelling brochure. They provide an email address and they immediately receive a free brochure.

This is only part of the story for now you can offer products and services which is where you make the money. See how it works. Provide what people want, build that brand and you will have loyal customers. You now have a business.

A brand is a way for people to remember your site and a way to tell others. A common mistake people make is to rush into creating a brand for the sake of having one. Remember, the brand is much about you and what you stand for – your vision. So when building a brand it is worth thinking about the bigger picture of your business/services core values, your goals and buyer’s goals.

Learn to serve and resonate with others. Know how to do this. Think about your buyers? What are they looking for? What age group, lifestyle etc are you targeting? What would be their goals? What is their pain?

What leaders do is to have daily visualisation and meditation on their goals – a road map of the mindset to where they are going and needs to be crystal clear.

What do you want the buyers to believe about you? How do you want them to resonate with you. i.e. values, services, knowledge, exclusivity…

Hone in on core values as these are the connectors with people. You need to set yourself apart from your competition.

List a number of your core values. Select those that are relevant and come up with supporting statements for each.

Here are some thoughts in respect to building your brand:
  • Who are your buyers – your target audience?
  • Know why you do what you do in order to passionately connect with others. It’s about connecting with those that believe in what you believe.
  • Think about why the buyer would want to come to you. How does what you are offering or presenting help your targeted audience – resolve their pain?
  • Why are buyers shopping in the first place? There are thousands of sites on the internet so what value do you bring?
  •  Think about demographics. Ensure you are presenting yourself where you are seeing the most interest.
  •  Get clear on your goals and share this.
  •  Have a compelling and relevant website or landing page. This is your store front.
  •  Use the social media networks. Treat this like  having a conversation in your local bar or a coffee shop
  •  Have a number of blog sites. This could be compared as sharing your thoughts on topical and relevant matters.
  •  Ensure there is congruency in all your marketing methods – keeping the look and feel about your brand throughout.
Remember. Building a brand and marketing is about you!

I have previously produced an article advising the need for a marketing plan if you felt you were sinking with internet marketing. This is so true. I also advised to take on two marketing strategies – one paid and one free/low cost.

Regarding the two marketing strategies, I would suggest the paid method was Pay Per Click and the free method being video marketing. Both methods are high converting so why not start off with these. Use both of these methods in your Marketing Strategy Plan.

Paid advertising

Start with PPC (Pay Per Click) and master this as this is the highest converting strategy. However, I would be selective with the search engines and may even consider avoiding Google in the early stages. Regarding paid methods, start with a small budget, test and tweak.

Do your keyword research, think about your audience (Avatar) and learn to write compelling ads that connect. Remember to track everything.

Work on two search engines to start off with. Once you start seeing results then fan out to more. Always keep an eye on your budget though.

For PPC start small, about $200 per month. When they start converting into money then raise the limit.

The best keywords to target are those with low competition and may even be in positions 4 to 8. This way your cost per click should be a lot lower.

Free marketing/low cost advertising

Video marketing is really on the increase and yes there is a lot of competition. This is free marketing although you may need to buy some equipment. Syndicating the videos will also have a cost.

Why video marketing? Because it is the easiest strategy. Article marketing is now too crowded.

YouTube for instance has loads of traffic through Google. Google loves video content and is the highest converting traffic search. If there isn’t a video on the first page for your product or service then there is the opening.

Video marketing is a good way to build your confidence and helps you to communicate more effectively.

What happens if you produced two videos a week for six months? This will equate to some 50 videos. There is a good chance you will have up to 10 leads per day with this quantity of videos.

Practise makes perfect, but your videos could stay out there forever. Provide content and value and you will get results so make this an integral part of your marketing.

Plan and execute. Your marketing plan should take into account:
  • Your audience i.e. network marketers and broadcast to these people.
  • Great connecting ads
  • suitable domain names that attract people
  • Linking the domain names to the right websites. Be congruent and outrageous.
Every conversation, broadcast, emails, videos must make that connection to your chosen audience. Target peoples needs and desires – ads that resonate with other people.

Learn to do one thing a day. A person who chases two rabbits catches neither. Think about laser focusing.

When you get good at a marketing strategy then is the time work on others.

If you are just starting out with marketing on the internet, do you have a marketing plan? Why have a marketing plan? Let’s be clear, you need to know where you are going otherwise you will become overwhelmed.
Failing to plan is planning to fail. You have heard this. You wouldn’t take a long uncharted journey in a car without knowing the directions. Most people fail in internet marketing due to dabbling and doing too many marketing strategies at once. If this is you then stop!

It’s not about chasing shining balls. It’s about designing an affordable balanced marketing campaign. Using only paid marketing will cripple you unless of course you have a stack full money to throw at it. Most people however quit because they run out of money - spending themselves out of the game. If this is you then it’s time to have a Marketing Strategy Plan.

Take time to research a paid campaign. You will need to be looking for a return on your investment. In other words, it’s no good spending on advertising a product or service if the money received is less than that paid out.

If you are using a paid method then you should not need to have to worry about your budget. Equally, I would suggest you use a free method i.e. videos, articles, press releases etc.

Set up a 90 day plan. Most people try for only 2 to 3 weeks then give up when they see no results. Focusing on 90 days will allow your marketing strategies to start to work. Free marketing especially takes time to become ranked in the search engines as this area is very competitive. Everyone wants results for free!

Month 1 is much about choosing your marketing methods and if a newbie marketer, I would suggest one paid method and one free method. This first month will comprise learning and trying.

During month 2, you should be seeing a few winning campaigns – if you are getting it right.

In month 3, you will be getting results through your winning campaigns.

Moving ahead of time, i.e. by 6 months, you should be seeing leads being generated on a daily basis with a number of these converting. Now you are on your way to being a master marketer.

As said, start off with two marketing methods, become good and then become great. Two strategies should give you 90% of the results.

Accept you will make mistakes along the way, may have to take risks and find it is hard work. No one said it will be easy. However, it does not matter if it actually takes 6, 9 or 12 months before you see the expected results. The key is to have a plan and stick to it.
